The second episode of the new season isn't action-packed either, it's more of a dialogue drama that explains a lot of what's likely to happen in the next episodes. This time, we're going for the bone, and you can see in the actors that they really stand behind their characters.
What also concerns Otto Hightower, who is supposed to be advising the king from his position. But that's not going to happen, his king is too young and can't handle events in his family. After the previous episode, after the death of his son in a cruel way, the young king decides to retaliate, which fortunately does not happen.
What does Rhaenyra do? It's very hard for her, after the death of her son, her uncle/father-in-law betrayed her and sent assassins that completely botched their work and only by luck did her not become another item to put in the grave.
The whole series is laced with intrigue and the first two episodes throw us into some heavy acting parts, long dialogue is guaranteed and you can really see the actors trying to fix things. If Emma D'Arcy isn't worthy of her queen, I'm going to be angry.
The same goes for Rhys Ifans, who manages to play his aide who sees the future (figuratively) better than the king to perfection. Maybe it s the dubbing, too, because Zbyšek Horák (replacing Pavel Vondra) has such a very charismatic voice, giving his Otto that precise and experienced voice.
I liked the second episode, everything was calm, no action. But the tension in the rooms was palpable because the actors were able to play their feelings and thoughts so genuinely, so that we could see that they were not just acting, but the whole character, with the whole story and thought process, so that they could save not only their lives, but all the people around them.
