Have you come across this name before but don't know what it means? It is an English acronym for Easy Serving Espresso, which can be loosely translated as easy serving espresso. It is the ease of preparing coffee using the E.S.E. pod that has made it very popular recently.
Simply put, you can think of it as a tea bag filled with roasted ground coffee that has already been compressed. The coffee is thus pre-prepared, roasted and pressed in its own filter.
You no longer have to think about how to grind the coffee and what coarseness to choose. It also eliminates the need to have a grinder, a tamper for pressing and other necessary equipment at home.
E.S.E. pods are individually wrapped to preserve their aroma and flavor. Many retailers sell them individually and you can mix different kinds without having to buy large quantities of just one kind.
Now to make coffee. Simply remove the E.S.E. pod from its packaging, insert it into the E.S.E. lever or coffee maker and prepare coffee exactly to your liking. The used pod is removed and the coffee maker is ready to prepare your next coffee. That's why they are so practical and easy to handle, plus they don't take up much space.
The vast majority are already made from compostable filter paper and can thus be disposed of in the bio-waste. This makes every cup of coffee 100% eco-friendly.
If you choose this option, find out in advance whether E.S.E. pods can be used in your coffee machine. There are coffee makers that run directly on E.S.E. pods, but you can also indulge in this option if you have a lever coffee maker. Some brands sell a coffee maker with several so-called "strainers" that you can freely swap out in the lever - a strainer for one coffee, a strainer for two coffees, and a strainer for the E.S.E. But don't despair if you can't find an E.S.E. strainer. You can buy it i separately.
How about choosing a coffee strainer? You can find many brands of coffee on the market that produce them. Therefore, you don't have to worry about giving up your favorite brand if you have decided to use pods.
