A game with originally promising potential that unfortunately remained a mobile port. Despite nice graphics and fun gameplay mechanics, the overall experience is limited by simple controls and poor gameplay. This title will disappoint gamers looking for a deeper experience, but may please those who just want short-term fun.
The game's initial potential
The game had a lot of potential, but it has faded away, probably due to the fact that it remained a mobile port. While it offers some interesting elements, it falls short in some key aspects.
Graphics and design
The graphics with block style are hilarious, as is the car damage and repair system. Upgrading vehicles adds to the progression of the game, which along with the variety adds some variety to the experience. The music is also of a solid standard, and the simple track design reminds me of classics like "Micro Machines" and similar games, which I find enjoyable.
Game mechanics and controls
The coin and loot box system doesn't bother me in the PC version, where everything is free. I'd even prefer if new cars had to be acquired randomly instead of players having to buy them directly.
However, my main criticism is directed at the gameplay itself, which is sadly lacking. Inspired by mobile titles, the game features three buttons: left for turning left, right for turning right, and a button for using weapons or abilities you collect on tracks. The controller in menu doesn't work, so if you're playing with a controller, you'll need a mouse.
Flaws in controls and gameplay experience
You have no control over acceleration or braking, which severely limits control over racing and causes the game to get tiresome quickly. Some of the powers could be more effective, plus I've seen instances where weapons that were supposed to hit opponents didn't work properly. For other powers, again, it's not obvious what effect they have, which can be confusing even after extended play.
Reward System and Upgrades
The game features a system of checkins and missions that earn coins to upgrade and purchase additional cars, but the simple gameplay lacks sufficient incentive to seek out these upgrades. If the developers added more ways to upgrade and control cars in the future, the game could be more interesting.
Recommendations and Conclusion
If I were to suggest some improvements to the developers for the next installment, I would recommend more focus on real car controls, better resolution between models, and perhaps linking the daily missions with a mini story mode to make the game offer a more complete experience. The game has untapped potential, and i while I'd like to recommend it, I have to say it didn't work out this time.
I would only recommend it to those looking for a simple mobile game to kill time. If you are looking for a game about crashing with controls close to classic racing games, this game is unfortunately not the right choice.
Why:
- Nice graphics and blocky visuals.
- Fun system of damaging and repairing cars.
- Simple track design reminiscent of classic games.
Con:
- Insufficient gameplay with limited controls.
- Some powers and weapons don't work properly or aren't clear.
- Lack of incentive for upgrading and acquiring new cars.
