He who does not know the King of Šumava, if he did not exist. Perhaps everyone should know the mysterious smuggler in the border mountains.
The second episode finally brings us some action, some dead bodies, but I expected more. A little more depth to the characters and psychology, so we know why so-and-so is doing this and why Hasil, bred from the Sumava countryside, is the one to defy the border patrols and ferry the emigrants to Germany.
Some of the actors really try hard to play the part well in this three-part series, even director David Ondříček, but it's the Sumava nature and especially the borderlands that are the big draw here.
Unfortunately, we learn nothing new during the hour-long episode, nothing about the main character to give us a proper idea of how his cult came to be.
We'll hopefully find out during the last episode, but this time the episode was even worse than last time, despite the director's best efforts.
