When the Game of Thrones series started, all the directors of the series were planning on getting into the A league of movie "franchises". One of the directors who made it to the A director's cream of the crop was Alan Taylor. After many installments of the series, and after films that "bombed" under his direction (Thor: The Dark World and Terminator Genisys), one of the series matadors returns again in the first installment of Order of the Dragon.
After the death of one of the descendants of the rightful heir to the throne, we once again return to the world we left off in two years ago. This time we return not to action, but rather to talking, where the main characters mostly talk about what they will do and have done, rather than springing into action. The lead duo of Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke have thankless roles. Queens, they are entitled to be, but reigned by someone else entirely who hasn't earned the right to rule.
I do appreciate Matt Smith's role, after his role as a Time Lord and husband to the Queen and historical fiction, he has thrown himself into being the driving force behind the plot, so his story is quite interesting and certainly won't be a simple one.
The Rod of the Dragon series is also about dragons, and so I have to review the dragon's performance in the series as well. This time they only have a supporting role. They have a minor role in the first episode because of the "controversy" over the great loss and death of the "heir to the throne".
This is just the beginning, I'm quite curious to see what the creators will come up with in the next episodes, as this episode was just an introduction to the characters we know from the first series.
I haven't read the book, but I kinda feel like the series is getting more guarded and prudish. And so we see no blood, no bare flesh. We always already see the end of sex and really no boobs, let alone "pussy".
It doesn't feel like it anymore, it would really like to see more adventure and purposeful sex and especially blood. Because as soon as it was about blood and other grossness, the shot was dedicated to someone else.
