Minority Report – Spielberg’s near-future sci-fi

We've had dinosaurs, soldiers, aliens, SS men, one pet in the cornfields. But we've yet to see proper near future sci-fi from Spielberg. Up to this point, of the S L Sci-fi duo, only Lucas had been involved with Star Wars (I,II,IV,V,VI) and Steven Spielberg had only been involved with making either commercial products – the three-part Indiana Jones series (I. J. and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, I. J. and the Temple of Doom, and the best so far, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). Or other cinematic masterpieces that didn't do so well with audiences, but reviewers appreciated these films. These films include Schindler's List, for example, or even the military film Saving Private Ryan.
Let's not forget A.I. Artificial Intelligence, which Spielberg made in memory of Stanley Kubrick. A.I. is not one of the typical Spielberg films, as it oozes Kubrick memory.
For me, the best S.S. film was Jutsky park, which was quite innovative for its time and most importantly used pretty good digital technology that gets better and better as time goes on.Now for the film, let's just say a job well done from the director. And it's true, Spielberg famously knows his job and most importantly you can see the constant improvement of an already pretty good craft. John Anderton works at Prekrim, a company that owns 3 three thearers who predict future murders in a comatose state, and John A. analyzes their premonitions, and in doing so, keeps them constantly ahead of killers who have no idea of their murderous tendencies and, more importantly, no idea that they're going to kill anyone. Neither does J.A. himself, who is labeled a murderer, and so he begins to run off in search of his supposed victim, whom he doesn't even know. And now the hunt for the killer and the victim begins. Whether the Precrime staff will find him before he kills someone, or if this isn't a lie and a manipulation of the facts at all. Of course he kills someone and that solves nothing, he gradually discovers that he can't trust any of his loved ones or superiors, and he's even dead in a way for a few moments, when he's put to sleep in Prekrime so he can do no harm. He eventually figures it all out and kills all the bad guys, as is proper in a good American movie. Although, we'll see for ourselves what our future looks like. Maybe even differently than what S.S. has offered us. Just maybe with the same cars, since the car companies are involved.

  • As far as I know, eye surgeries are done with disinfection and need a completely clean environment
  • After surgery, stitches or any procedure doesn't heal for only 12 hours, even the smallest injury takes much longer to heal
  • if I'm in a car factory, there should be some kind of security
  • any car factory is hard to work in, and as soon as there is an intruder, security should step in, or at least stop the machines from working
  • I don't think you can „eyeballs“ just be left in a plastic bag to be affected by outside influences, so their condition should steadily deteriorate
