The second season of Sex O'Clock goes deeper into the stories and offers a more complex treatment, more storylines, new characters and relationships. The creative team, connected by long-standing friendships, has imbued the project with a family feel and the courage to explore controversial topics that you just don't find on commercial television. Addiction, interpersonal relationships and privacy issues in the digital world - all with courage and humor.
Shift in story: From Teenage Beginnings to sophistication
"The first series was crazier, the second one has moved on a bit, it's more sophisticated, it has more storylines, characters, plots and also intimacy," says Voyo's creative producer. Characters such as Judith, Michal, Patrik, Adam, Emma, Greta, Kiki, David, Johnny, Alice and of course entrepreneur Doubek have become part of us over the years. We have lived with them for about three years (the authors of the project even longer), and the Anensky family and their friends are now almost like our own family. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish where our lives end and theirs begin. It even happens that when we meet together, we talk exclusively with lines from the show. And I see that as a positive - if you love the characters and the world you're creating and live everyday life with them, that's the key to success.
Cohesion and friendly bonds within the team
Almost family-like cohesion is evident not only among the characters, but also between the writers and the entire production team. Some of the members have known each other since their school days, and some of the team even come from Zlín, where the series is filmed. In order to make the younger actors in particular feel comfortable during the filming, a familiarisation workshop was held before the start of the first series, during which the intimacy coordinator was also present. The Anensky family has gradually "adopted" everyone involved in the project, and thanks to this, our delegation at the festivals is one of the largest.
Vision and preparation: detailed work on every element
The most important thing is of course a clear idea and vision of what and how we want to tell the story. All the elements contribute to the quality of the series - from great scripts and interesting locations to the selection of actors to the careful preparation of costumes that fit each character perfectly. A significant role is also played by music by our court composer Jiri Burian. The result is an original, unadorned and yet completely authentic world where the characters really come alive and manage to win the hearts of the audience.
Open-ended themes and the courage to take risks
The second series moves towards more mature and deeper themes that viewers would look in vain for in other series. In addition to the humour that runs throughout the show, we look at issues such as pornography addiction, relationships with age differences, consensual sex with authority, and privacy issues in the age of digital technology. Such themes bring boldness and originality to the series, and at the same time pose a challenge to commercial television, which has not hesitated to tread into new territory.
Expectations for Season 2
I am extremely grateful that television has taken such a bold step. And as for the second series, I believe it will get a great response. Or as Johnny says, "Who's ready, easy on the battlefield, mate!"
