Robots – reviews

Once upon a time, in the old robotic days, a father and mother lived together, and a son was born (was constructed) to them, very naughty but very clever, who became an inventor. He spent his adolescence with parts from his cousin. When he grew up. He set out to experience the big world, Robot City, which held great possibilities. In Robot City, he wanted to visit the great inventor Mr. Bigweld, who is the biggest robot in the world and every robot looks up to him as a father because he owns a parts factory. And young Rodney Copperbottom also goes to the big city to visit him and show him his invention.

A pretty nice robot tale, isn't it , but it wouldn't be a story without a plot. Upon arriving in town, Rodney discovers that it's not what it used to be, Bigweld is long gone from his factory, and his place has been taken by the evil Ratchet, who is no longer one of the popular robots. He is one of the most evil people, and wants to use the robots to enrich himself and become very, very rich.Rodney doesn't succeed at all, but on his way from the factory he was fired from, he runs into a bunch of robots that belong to the robot scum, led by the perpetually decaying robot Fender. These robots may be one of the lowest on the robot ladder, but their hearts are in the right place, so they take Rodney in, fix his mood, Rodney fixes their crumbling parts, and a wonderful robot friendship develops

The Robots movie was not made by Pixar or Dreamworks, but by Blue Sky Studios, which had made the first successful film, Ice Age. It's good to see how these 3D films compete with each other and continually relegate classic animation, not 3D, to an ever lower position. Robots is a proper example of how you can make a relatively good film with 3D animation. Although mostly for children, but also a bit for film connoisseurs, because, as is the recent habit in animated films, many quotes from famous films are used. Because of these quotes, every animated film has become a kind of parody. Even in Robots, there are many phrases and images used that at first glance refer to famous films.

Just as actors are criticized in live-action films, animation is criticized and judged in animated films. Blue Sky Studios has managed to improve after Ice Age, there is no flaw in the picture, the robots, their movement, are highly stylized, not stiff as one might think, but fluid, in many ways similar to human and real human movement. It's good that the robots in this film don't just walk on 2 legs, but there are also characters that just fly, or move on large wheels or balls that replace their bodies. This creates a very interesting variety of robots. One gets a sense of joy that everything that works in human society also works in robot society, like the behaviour of pets, dogs, cats, family relationships, mother-father-son, education and many other things.

Let's not forget about the modes of transportation in a robot city either. These include transport by air, planes, catapults, transport on the ground, various kinds of cars and bicycles. And many other modes of transportation that couldn't be shown in the movie anymore because the movie is mainly about the story and not about what the robot city looks like.

Blue Sky Studios didn't work much on the script, but a lot of interesting ideas and quotes were enough to make the film a success, so it's quite interesting, it's suitable for young children, it's dubbed, it's suitable for older people. Everybody will find their own position in them, and they will definitely take a break after the work or school rush. I must not forget the trailer before the film , because the preview before the film is a demonstration by a saber-toothed squirrel for the second part of Ice Age.
