Sierra was born in California and grew up there until the sixth grade. When Sierra was twelve years old, her parents decided to move to Prague for work obligations. "Moving from America to the Czech Republic was one of the hardest times of my life. Mostly because of the language, because the Czech language is one of the most difficult in the world, and I can confirm that," she recalls.
Entering a Czech elementary school without knowing the language was a big test for the 12-year-old. "Twelve is such an awkward age. When you don't speak the same language yet, it's that much harder to fit in," Sierra said.
But as time went on, she got used to Czech life, culture and mentality. "What I love most about the Czechs is their witty pessimism and temperament," she says with a smile. Through determination and diligence, she was able to fully adapt and find her place in a new country.
From her first recipes to triumph in Hell's Kitchen
Sierra only got into cooking four years ago, a relatively short time given her current success and culinary prowess. Her first experience was gained in Germany, where her passion for gastronomy was fully developed.
Her preference for Czech cuisine is clear. "Favourite Czech food? The classic - potato salad with schnitzel. Especially at Christmas!" Sierra laughs.
Their victory in Hell's Kitchen is proof that hard work, grit and determination can overcome all obstacles. Sierra has not only managed to make it in a new country and learn the Czech language, but she has also built a career that has taken her to the top of the gastronomy industry.
