So another sequel to the successful film has arrived in cinemas, this time the vampire mythology Underworld, which deals with the battles between vampires and werewolves , who are called lycans according to the film's intention. In the first installment, we are introduced to a rather sexy, charming vampire named Selen, whose parents have been killed, and several vampires who are either sleeping in their coffins or fighting the remnants of the Lycans. And with a few lycans who are doing quite a few illegal things and killing each other again. But let's not forget the very first hybrid lycan and vampire, that was Michael, who becomes an important part of the story.
In the second part of this vampire mythology, we learn how it all started, why vampires and lycans hate each other, and what actually happened when Selen killed the most revered vampire. It is therefore imperative that those who go to see this film see part one, even though there are a few flashbacks in the film, to briefly explain how things actually are and were, and why what happens happens.
Let's not forget the beginning of the film, where we find out in a flashback when the battle actually started and who is whose brother, and that there is actually a first big father who spawned both lycans and vampires.
When we look at the overall film, what has improved or deteriorated from the first one, we can see that the filmmakers only let themselves get carried away with the story, which is shallow and without thought, and which is not the backbone of this film. Neither are the gimmicks, which, while occasionally digital, are the mainstay, but most of the transformations that occur during the film are created by puppets or models. The only thing the filmmakers played on a lot were the masks of the werewolves, who really look like bloodthirsty beasts, a cross between wolf and man.
Looking at the cast, most of the actors are left over from the first installment, especially the survivors. And the new characters? Tony Curran as Marcus, who is a second hybrid of vampire and lycan, is pretty creepy. But definitely the fact that he's gone from being a hybrid to a powerful vampire makes him almost invincible, and he weighs down the main characters very heavily. Another new character is Alexander Corvinus. He is played by Sir Derek Jacobi, who stands out above the rest with his theatrical and experienced acting. Selen (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael (Scott Speedman) play their characters quite coolly, Selen is sexy and in a latex outfit and Michael is quite cold, not very expressive. It's pretty similar to the first episode.
To sum it all up, I would only recommend this movie to a fan of latex and sexy clothes. You won't see any naked flesh, and you won't see any action either, because the film is shot in some parts at quite a clip, so you can't see much of what's happening in front of the screen.
