The return of Ellie and dark future: the second season of The Last of Us starts strong.
So Ellie is back. I'll say it straight up, a little calm after season one doesn't hurt. The show is right back where it left off. With the return of humanity's main enemies, of course, it was to be expected that we'd be plunging the main couple. This is, i according to the play, the main couple Ellie and Joel, who already have a very complicated relationship. The adoptive father vs. the daughter, who may be the saving grace of humanity, that is, if she survives.
The first episode of season two was once again handled by lead creator Craig Mazin, who we know as a very experienced series writer, not just for the sake of series, but mainly for post apocalyptic series that set up a possible dark future for a dark period of humanity.
Mazin's Chernobyl told us what might have happened there in the 1980s, and the Last of Us series prepares us for a dark future where nature rebels against humanity and there are only a few survivors.
The first episode of the show's second season fulfills the role of the first episode, where we already know everything from the first season, but gradually, it lightly reveals everything that we could be in for in future episodes. The main couple lives their happy life in asylum town. The town has its problems with finances, building accommodation for the new arrivals and the only thing that can simply threaten them is the outside world. And that's what happens, through mysterious hints we learn that life for everyone in the town isn't as rosy as it seems, everyone has a skeleton in them that shows up in dark moments. This is also mainly the town's "psychologist"- Gail, who really has her dark side.
I mustn't forget the Czech dub, the main duo Pascal and Ramsey (ova) have their voices from the previous season and other dubbing voices support them a lot. I must not forget Catherine O'Hara, who may not have her "court" (Home Alone) dubber, but Milena Steinmassl can dub and is absolutely suited to 70. year-old alcoholic who can't forget who killed her husband.
And lest I forget, there are also budding stars of the screen in supporting roles. Like Isabel Merced (Alien: Romulus... Superman) or Kaitlyn Dever, who appears in the series as Abby, a character from the game series.
I'm glad the first episode is what it is. The initial introduction to season two is very hilarious.
