When the animated films were in theaters last year, I wanted to go see the Big Six. Unfortunately, I didn't make it. So I watched this big movie on my television. I was expecting a movie that would justify the big HALLO that happened around it. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
The story was classic, so a little boy saves humanity with the help of friends, a robot and lessons learned. Of course there were a few deaths and big surprises. Unfortunately, in the competition of other animated films I've seen, not counting just last year, The Big Six is not among the top.
It's true, everything is well done. Good ideas, good visual and spoken jokes, but that wasn't enough to please me. I would have liked more, as I saw that same week on HBO in How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Now for the Blu-ray, the picture and sound are flawless. The digital origins are undeniable. The bonus disc is also as full as one would imagine. Among the bonus features you'll find the short film Feast, which is very funny and also won an Oscar, this time for a short film, a few cut scenes and of course other bonus features that give you enough information to get a sense of how fun the film was to make.
But despite my criticisms, definitely buy the Blu-ray, it's good for a breather. It's also good for kids.
