Westworld – Parce Domine (S03E01) – Dolores is out of “her park”

The first episode of the new season? Yes, it's here. The hit series of the last four years is back and we can once again watch the robot vs. human "war."

We're introduced to new characters like mechanic Caleb Nichols (Aaron Paul) and continue the story of the most famous "robot" Dolores, who has gone completely independent since the first episode in 2016 and escaped into the real world with her group of loved ones.

For the first time, season three has ventured outside of Westworld to finally enjoy our near future. How technology will change us and how we can change our lives for the better, or worse, depending on how we treat our Earth.

This week's opening hour is all about introducing the main plot, as Dolores finds herself in an over-technotized world and, thanks to her experience in the park, manages to survive, positioning herself to attack the weakest points. Her desire is quite strong, and so she plans her moves carefully, and despite the corpses (as you probably already know from the previous two seasons), she pursues her goal.

This time around, we only get to enjoy two major storylines in the episode, that of Dolorita and that of Bernado. The other characters from previous episodes don't appear, rather it's mostly about introducing the real real world, its functionality and how humans depend on their technology. And in the first episode, we also get to enjoy a few famous cameos (Thomas Kretschmann, Marshawn Lynch...)

Creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan have perfectly crafted the modern world and created a story that manages to surprise with its harsh reality. The millions spent on each episode are evident, and so the functionality of the world and the position of the characters in the story are near perfect.

I know that this is the first episode of only eight, so I'm certainly not allowed to rate it as a perfect work, but it certainly gets its 80% because I got the opening performance of the eight-part series I was expecting.
