When it comes down to it, season four was a success. In the very last episode, we finally get an explanation of what it's really like. And why the deaths of beloved characters in previous episodes were necessary.
Today, we've covered the last few deaths of familiar characters, and we've finally gotten some closure.
Christina's story is the most important thing this season. Her story isn't just about her being a writer, it's about the realization that it was necessary for Dolores to rejoin the world when her deactivation at the end of season three was necessary.
The deaths of other beloved characters are also necessary because, as I understand it, the creators have that pretty well figured out from the beginning. The journey into the distance is justified, and probably the last season in 2 years will see us back in the Western world where it all started in the first place.
A lot has changed since the old park, decades have passed, nothing is the same, people and robots have changed a lot.
What else to say? This is still one of the most prolific series, the millions spent are showing. In the last season, the creators also played with a new method of filming, i.e. the virtual studio (Thor 4, Star Wars series). Finally, the use of new technology made sense and really fit the story.
We've had a lot of decades, a lot of murder and naked bodies over the course of four seasons. There was a lot in the early seasons. It gradually went downhill until the last episode of season four brought us back to the killing sprees. This time, we enjoyed it so much that I even remembered the original movie, where there was a lot of blood.
What about the conclusion? Some episodes surprised me, some disappointed me, but in the sum of all eight episodes I'm very surprised. Over the course of eight episodes, the creators have delivered a complicated puzzle that only came together properly in the last episode.
It's a very good thing that the creators managed to put everything together by the last minute so they could go back to the beginning again. I wonder if there will be a final season, I'd be happy for it. But we won't really know until two years from now, because after 36 episodes, the story has returned once again to the western town of Sweetwater.
