Guardians of the Galaxy on Blu-ray

One of the Christmas presents you bought before Christmas was the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Heroes who are each from a different planet. Among them is a raccoon and a tree and of course the human offspring of "adventurer" and thief Peter Quill. The Blu-ray has been available for almost a month now, so you can add another installment to your Marvel movie collection. There are more movies waiting for us again this year. The second Avengers installment and the intriguing Ant-man project with Michael Douglas.

The Guardians of the Galaxy of London have continued the success of their predecessors. Their reviews around the world have been very positive and on our server the film has been received with positive reviews. It may not be Marvel's best film, but it got my label with a good rating.

I concluded my review with the paragraph, "The whole movie took me back to my early days when the music was better than it is now. Analog, full of guitars and love. Guardians of the Galaxy also took its cue, in part, from the Star Wars franchise (IV - VI). I'd actually like to see a modern Star Wars VII, what with J.J. Abrams will do. If it's as entertaining as Guardians of the Galaxy, I'll definitely give Star Wars VII a lot of percentages."

It doesn't hurt to say that I continue to agree with my feelings about the film, and I'm happy to play it on my 42″ TV.

Blu-ray no problem. By the fact that the film was shot on digital cameras and didn't go through any analogue process, you get exactly the same experience on TV as you do in the cinema. Both visually and aurally, because it's always easiest to just convert the 2K source film data to HD resolution. The dubbing isn't too shabby either. Dubbers were chosen for this film who don't dub that often. Peter Qruill is dubbed by Roman Ricar and Zoe Soldana is dubbed again with a new voice by Antonia Talackova.

There are also dubbers who dub more often and are more well-known. David Novotny for Rocket, for example, and Miroslav Taborsky, who has been dubbing Marvel films. Before that, he had already played Mandarin in the third Iron-man movie. So I hope the filmmakers don't decide to merge the worlds of the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and Taborsky has to be replaced by Czech distributors for at least one character.

But there's already a crossover with the bonus features, because the film is being distributed for the world by another company, which is content with only a small number of bonus features. Fans of the film grumble, but buy because they don't want to have empty space in their collection. The bonuses are just that: Cut and extended scenes; Gags; Commentary by director James Gunn; Information; Galaxy Guide with James Gunn; Intergalactic visual effects for Guardians of the Galaxy; Exclusive featurette from Marvel Studios: Avengers: Age of Ultron. The collection of bonus features is inadequate for fans. While I don't expect the bonus features to be the same as the extended versions of Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, a few hours of documentary on the filming, CGI and of course the history of the comics wouldn't hurt.

But if you're a true fan buy this film for your collection. Prices are already dropping, and by the time the next Marvel movie opens, their price will be very reasonable even though they contain few bonus features. Personally, I will still gradually buy the previous films as well, as the collection should always be complete. Only a few more months and the next film will be in theaters, and it will be good to review when I can compare each subsequent film to its predecessors. What will surprise me is if it's better or worse and maybe I, like other comic book fans, will be very excited for the continuation of the universe.
