When I watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in theaters six months ago, I immediately decided to add it to my collection of digital media among my friends. I already have the first Guardians of the Galaxy, and I've just added the second one.
Quoting from my review: Unfortunately, I don't like the new Guardians of the Galaxy, it's just too humorous. If I didn't know it was from the same universe as the Avengers (and Dr. Strange), I wouldn't have even considered it. The story just takes place in a different place than we would expect. This time, towards the end of the movie, the main bad guy dies, but he's not Thanos at all, which is a bit of a letdown. No one from the other films appears either, no mention of them knowing that Thor's kingdom is under the rule of Loki, Captain America is in exile, and the Hulk is wandering around arenas somewhere fighting battles.
The Blu-ray is pretty well done, with not a single blemish on the image. The film looks exactly like it did in the cinemas, the Czech dubbing doesn't spoil anything and it has brought the same voices in the wake of the first episode. Granted, some of the voices are repeated in the larger universe, Miroslav Taborsky has a distinctive voice and he already dubbed Mandarin in Iron Man 3, but the characters are unlikely to meet, so it doesn't matter at all.
The film has its place in the collection of Marvel movies. I'm sure you'll enjoy it after the 3rd and 4th. Avengers 2nd Guardians I'll be watching both the first and second installments. After all, all the Guardians will appear, from Peter Quill to Groot, who I'm sure will have grown into an adult.
