House of the Dragon – The Red Dragon and the Gold (S02E04)

It's not a bad thing when the more unimportant parts of this series are directed by an experienced director. The most gifted one in the entire Game o Thrones/Rod of the Dragon franchise is Alan Taylor.

Alan Taylor really elevated the episode to a high level. The first part, still in dialogue, was breathtaking. Both in King's Landing, and in Rhaenyra, or in Daemon. All of these pieces of dialogue came together in the battle for Rook's Rest's small castle.

This time I really have to give credit to each and every actor's performance, every moment with the cast we've been waiting half the series for, we really got. The first battle with the Dragons and also the first deaths of important characters.

We must not i forget i important element and that is Daemon. He gradually gets into an unenviable situation, because the castle he and his dragon visited in the context of gathering support for the army has a very dark past and it doesn't fit his space in the castle. Therefore, he has frightening dreams and pretty big hallucinations that make his stay very difficult. For the young Rhaenyra returns again in the form of Milly Alcock.

The combination of dialogue and action right in the middle of the show's second season made me very happy and I'll be very curious to see how the deaths and  "almost" deaths of important characters will mark all the members of the royal family, their council and of course the rightful heirs.
