All four volumes are digitally cleaned on a modern medium, delivering a perfect image of all images. Some do show the ravages of time, but this is only in the very minimum of cases. The original sound is perfect and every crack of the whip can be heard.
Unfortunately, the best option for the Czech dub is not chosen. Expect a VHS version in the Czech dub. This means that in the first three episodes the main character's voice changes. Ladislav Frej in the first part, Ladislav Županič in the second and Jiří Štěpnička in the third. The sound is originally analogue, so you can hear the classic technology noise.
Thanunately, there is only one Czech version for the fourth episode, so it is the best. For the first episode, unfortunately, when the dub was created, the translation is very inaccurate and charged to the time of creation. And so some things from the original are left out and very much altered, thus it is very much criticized by fans. It's a shame that the dubbing that was done for television couldn't be found on Blu-ray, where all the first episodes are dubbed by Jiri Stepnicka and all the terminology of the American version is retained in all three episodes and no information is hidden.
The bonus fifth disc for each film provides perfect information about the making of each film. How it was filmed, the traveling, the tricks, and more are enough to fill in the details of how the entire tetralogy was made. Most of the bonus features are taken from DVDs that came out a few years ago, but a few bonus features are in HD because they were just filmed for the new release.
Despite a few negatives, such as the dubbing in particular, I recommend buying the whole set, one learns a lot of information in the bonus features, and if they don't listen to the Czech version, they get to enjoy the sound of the original.
