Interstellar – Unique Sci-fi by Christopher Nolan

Interstellar_035Nolan's Interstellar is one of those movies that doesn't hurt to see on a big monitor and TV.

The story is simple, Earth is on the brink of death, dust storms threaten the entire Earth. The ruling class bans space travel and starts mystifying. NASA is banned and everything is donated to save our planet's crops and resources.

Farmer Cooper grows the only crop that can be grown in this crisis. What was left to him was an aviator, maybe even an astronaut, with only his daughter, his son and his dad to support him. His house is haunted by a Poltergeist who scares his daughter. He's trying to solve it, and his solution involves space and how Earth might be saved.

I won't tell you more. Rather, I will write that Christopher Nolan knows how to make his films perfectly. It is rightly said that this is one of the best films of recent times. If we take the technical side of things. What might happen if we had an Earth about to die and a group of fired NASA scientists, who no longer exist, find a solution to save the people of Earth.

Nolan has tried to make a new Space Odyssey that is unforgettable. The fifty-year-old film just keeps getting better. I'm not saying Space Odyssey has a timeless idea, but the Interstellar script unfortunately has a typically American idea. It all ends with the main character's desires coming true and being reunited with his daughter, who looks much older than he is.

Interstellar_050I'd rather watch the technical side of the film. Both the picture and the sound are perfect. You can see that Interstellar is shot with analog cameras. The classic film image is visible every bit of the Blu-ray. One of the few analog films worth seeing in IMAX format. That's why the Blu-ray alternates between the classic 1:2.4 film image and the 16:9 widescreen image. You can really see that some parts are shot on IMAX cameras. These parts are the best I've seen in a couple of years.

I'm not going to compare it to Gravity though. Both films are worth seeing. Each film has something positive, something negative. Each film will find its fans. Gravity is shorter and all for IMAX. It's a short hour and a half one-hander. Interstellar is less than three hours long, a big movie that tries to have the idea of a threat to humanity.
