Kill Bill vol. 2 – recenze

Review of Kill Bill Episode 2

I really don't know how to start, I was expecting action scenes, with better choreography, but this second installment, as is known with sequels, disappointed me. There was too much talking and hardly any action for me. No chaotic time changes, now just a story that goes chronologically, and we always know why a given character is there. What's going on, and why exactly the bride is where she is, and they're going to kill who and how... In the first episode it was quite interesting, following bits and pieces of the story, how and what happened. I miss the Pulp Fiction-esque vibe, and especially the chaos of the story being built up so much that it's only at the end that we find out why things happened the way they did.

And especially in Pulp Fiction , when all the characters' stories all came together into one story, one scene, and so it wasn't until the story key clicked at the end that all the discontinuities were resolved. I miss that a lot with Bill now. The story was heading towards a climax, straight on, with no side detours. The bride killed the first set of killers in the first episode, and saved the rest of the killers who killed her at the wedding for a companion episode, including Bill, who has some more news in store for her. And they kill in nice sequential fashion.

Tarrantino is not a godlike director, he's made some famous films and written some pretty accomplished scripts, but I confess I didn't like his last film at all. Not only because he split the film into two parts to make more money, but because he didn't meet my expectations that the second part would be better than the first. I would say he put the better parts in the first part, and put the lesser parts in the second part so people could go see both parts if they liked the first part. Which I didn't, and so now I'm kicking myself for spending over £200 on both films for such crap, expecting quality.

And in conclusion, well, simply if you liked the first part, and you're not expecting anything anymore, then go see the film, but I remind you, for me Kill Bill 2 was pretty disappointing.
