So Prima's gotten wet. It doesn't just put on stupid endless soaps, reality shows and other crap anymore, it's started putting on detective shows. The first good detective show is Maigret. The first episode of a British series starring Rowan Atkinson.
When you say British historical series, you'll know Poirot, Miss Marple and many others worth watching.
The detective story based on George Simenon's novel was filmed in Budapest, Hungary, and the production team managed to create just the right French atmosphere. The film is shot in English, but all the subtitles, songs are in French.
The story of the detective story is a bit changed from the book, but the main idea of the story is kept, the girls get killed and the killer is the son of the butcher.
Rowan Atkinson managed to play the French detective very well. His first serious character was well done and I didn't notice Mr. Bean standing out the whole film.
The Czech version chose Karel Heřmánek to dub Rowan Atkinson, an excellent choice, the dubbing could have spoiled the film, nothing happened at all. Everything is in the right place and nothing stands out.
Compared to Sherlock, Maigret is better, I enjoyed it more and the plot was mainly what I liked about the episode. Also the music, the preservation of the historic rolling stock, the clothes and other things that only British shows can do. Keeping the period authenticity.
