Only murders in the building – 90%

Do you know what the advantage of having a new online subscription service is? The one that bought 20th Century Studios a few years ago? Because we get to see things that normal Americans have known for a couple of years, and we get to discover them.

The latest series I've discovered is a series about how two old men, along with a young girl, start a podcast about how a person dies in their rental house (a typical N.Y. rental house). The tenant's unfortunate death is initially ruled a suicide, but the "investigative" team of an old actor, a theater director and a young apartment "restorer" try to find the culprit in the suicide.

Now, on to who's actually in this show, which has 10 episodes each season, running about half an hour. The main pair of retirees are two of comedy's most celebrated actors, Steve Martin and Martin Short. They are both retired now and the fact that they still enjoy acting at their age is very good. They are in their 70s and yet they won't just be sitting at home on the sofa. They're playing for a hundred because they just enjoy it.

The third to join the party is an actress who made her name as a singer, actress, and even dancer in the famous and iconic Barney and His Friends, where she starred since she was a youngster. Despite her health and mental health issues, Selena Gomez has managed to get fit and comedically emulate actors 50 years her senior.

Each episode in the first season gradually reveals all sorts of connections and interactions between the neighbors. It's not at all clear at first how the people's accommodations are interconnected, so the gradual unraveling of the interconnections that lead to the murder and the discovery of the killer is the most interesting thing I see about the show.

It's also important to know that the entire show is built on the comedic experience of all the actors. There are some cameos here and there (Sting) and important characters are played by good friends of Martin and Short. Amy Ryan, Tina Fey and Nathan Lane, among others. We know all these actors from humorous sketches from America.

The series is very entertaining, its length of each episode is perfectly adequate. It's not lengthy and towards the end of the episode, we are well surprised with a twist to continue watching the next episode.

The main trio is very cool and the episodic roles are also very funny, so I absolutely enjoy the show. As soon as I finish watching the first season, I'm going to jump into the second, the premiere season, which is currently being released on a weekly basis.

Not forgetting the dubbing, as the main trio is dubbed by Jan Vlasak, Otakar Brousek Jr. and the returning Lucie Vondráčková. This trio further enhances the entire series for Czech audiences.
