The Predator is a cult film. The new film tries to continue the spirit of the 1980s film. And the latest movie to „at least online“ make it to our television is Predator: Prey.
This time it's not about the future or the present, but the story is set in the past, where there are still Indians living in America and America is being conquered by the French. Now it's about whether the new "Predator" is the one to continue the success of the famous Predators.
Yes, this time it's really done it. It may not be a movie in theaters, but thanks to Disney, we're really getting a taste of what fans should enjoy in a Predator movie. Fighting against a lone adversary that comes from God knows where. And that Predator, of course, will not survive, that's for sure. We know from Arnold's film, or Danny Glover's film, that the Predator is already in the distant past and that it won't survive the end of the film.
Dan Trachtenberg has been tasked, by the producers, with going back to the 17th century, when America was full of Indians, and bringing back the shine to the famous Predator. He's done a pretty good job of that, this is not a franchise that combines Aliens with Predators, it's just the Predator movie we've come to expect.
To begin with, this is a movie about Indians really trying to survive in the 17th century. There's always a female Indian in an Indian tribe who is trying to be not only as good as the men, but better. This is the main character of the film, Naru, who wants to be a famous warrior. At first, she tries to be even better than her tribe members, but after the arrival of the Predator, who decides to grace the 17th century Earth by going on a hunt for the greatest Predator, she decides to kill (hunt) the Predator.
I won't say how she does it, but the fact that this is the 17th century, when America is occupied by various nations who settle in the new American land, is important. This is a very interesting story that allows one young Indian woman to kill a Predator. We've become used to the idea that the space hunter can only be killed by Arnold (in the Mud) or Glover (in the city) from possibly Brody in another galaxy, but the fact that the Predator will only be killed by an Indian girl trying to pay respect to her ancestors is new.
It's quite a shame that the new Predator is only online. If it weren't for the internet, it would definitely be in cinemas. Personally, I think it is good enough to attract new fans to Disney , where this movie can be seen. It's not related to Marvel, Star Wars, or the various movie franchises, it's just Predator wanting to be seen.
It's a great shame that the lead Predator has long since passed away. Back in the days of Arnold, Kevin Peter Hall was the lead hunter actor. Thanks to that actor, who died at only 35, we have an iconic hunter. The new successor to the Predator character is Dane DiLiegro, who is 210cm tall,
The story is clear, kill the most famous "Predator" on Earth. And how? In the movie PREY, it was done. For a few tens of millions of dollars, we got the Predator back where he belongs. Back to Earth with the blood of humans and the space hunter himself.
