So we're done. What expectations do we have with the end of season two? Well I personally had expectations that all the stories would come together in one place and there the antagonists would slay each other's dragons. But we're not going to get that. Rather, we get political debating so that half the people in the world don't die off.
I didn't like the last series of Dragonborn at all. Granted, we already know we're going to see eight more episodes in two years. I was expecting something to happen at least. Has anything at all happened to change the status and balance of power between the king and true queen? It didn't. The young king suffers the consequences of his life and senseless actions. His brother is still the same and only the greatest dragon he stole from his enemies in his youth makes him feel like a god. And what about the king's mother and rightful queen (in exile)? They reunite in the last minutes of the series and after discussing it amongst themselves, decide that the only true queen is the one chosen by Viserys.
I was expecting i some death and action, not just politicking, and so the episode totally disappointed me. The entire second season is really just talk. Compared to Game of Thrones, they're really all standing around and making all sorts of faces and trying to discuss the past and the future, both pro and anti-War.
It definitely wouldn't hurt to shorten the series a bit, because really waiting for something to happen in a few episodes is really one big bore. Granted, the actors and directors try to a hundred and six, but the main things are on the shoulders of the directors. It really shows a different creative approach. Alan Taylor, the only one of the directors has experience in big budget films. You can really see the skill in how he guides his actors in his work. The other directors have only made their episodes a chatty boring thing, which a fan can fall asleep to and not miss anything.
Maybe they wanted to i more, especially to link, the whole series with the Game of Thrones series. A few flashbacks, like Daemon Targaryen's nightmares, won't hold up. His whole line from the first episode to the last was utterly boring. I guess the creators wanted to stretch the series out over more episodes and all they could think of was to make Daemon a tragic character who, when he sees visions of a dark future, changes his mind and becomes a good character who will support his wife in whatever she decides. Daemon is only the husband of the queen and not the king himself.
