Star Trek: Discovery – Brother (S02E01) – Going Where No Man Has Gone Before

After more than a year, a new episode of Star Trek: Discovery is on TV (and online). The first 15 episodes in the first season introduced us to the conflict - the war with the Klingons and the "Spore" drive, which can take you wherever you want in space.

Late in the series, we also got to the mirror universe, so that the Captain could die and a character who died immediately in the pilot could return at the same time. And during the last few minutes, we also met Enteprise.

The first few minutes of the new series get us back on track, bringing back the first captain of Star Trek. Captain Pike, who, instead of Kirk, has been on a five-year mission, plunges into new adventures with a new crew.

New Captain Anson Mount – Pike is more likeable than Jason Isaacs this time around, and successfully continues the story of the series' first captain from the episode The Cage.

Not forgetting the references to classic Star Trek, the return of Spock (Ethan Peck) is a big draw for the story. It will certainly become clear why his adopted sister only appeared in this series, and we'll certainly learn more about how he lived before he joined Kirk on the Enterprise.

Let's not forget that the new Star Trek series is one of the most expensive. The stunts are movie level and the story and plot is really good. This is not a one-episode story, it's a season-long run with a gradual unveiling of the main problem (the enemy?) that all the major characters are dealing with.

Director (writer of the Star Trek movies) Alex Kurtzman has already taken a page from J. J. Abrams on how to make a cool episode. The next episode will be directed by another of the "classic Star Trek" directors, Jonathan Frakes, who managed to recreate the "Next Generation" film franchise for the screen back in the 90s.

I'm very curious to see where Michael Burnham's steps with the Discovery crew will take us, it's sure to be somewhere "where no man has gone before".
