This episode finally shows Ellie's past. How she got the bite and what she was really like when she wasn't with Joel.
Ellie's story is very interesting, as a member of FEDRA she was trained and because of her rebellious nature she got into a shopping mall with a friend where she got infected. This episode is about that, her infection and history, her character and what made her get Joel as a protector.
This episode strikes me as a lot of filler, a lot of distraction from the main story, well, but it's the third episode where the story doesn't continue with the main couple, just explaining the background.
