600th episode! What should we expect? Dark humor, a fun episode, more parts in a Simpsons episode? Fortunately, this 600th episode of The Simpsons was released as a Halloween special, so the creators were able to go all out on the episode.
Unfortunately, the anniversary reminder only appears at the beginning, when Bob the Lion, the other green alien, Frank Grimes, and the green Irish dwarf show up. And the second anniversary reminder is at the end, when the credits pick up the 3rd story.
Each Halloween episode contains 3 horror stories that do not depend on each other. The first story is a parody of the movie, the second is a ghost story, and the third is again a parody of the movie.
The first episode is a parody of The Hunger Games. This part is the worst of the trilogy of individual stories. The creators just took the film tetralogy (book trilogy) and crammed in a story about Lisa. I did notice a brief digression to the 4th Mad Max episode, but otherwise nothing I didn't expect. Part One - 60%
The second story takes on a ghostly theme, where an imaginary friend of Lisa's (again, as in Part One ) materializes and gradually destroys the people who have become friends of the blonde girl with spiky hair. It was the funniest part. I had the most fun and laughter. Not just the ghost killing possibilities, but the funniest one was Homer's imaginary friend, you know he was, spoiler, a "Hot Dog". Rated 80%.
The third and final part of the Halloween special is devoted to a parody of James Bond, with the main character being, for a change from the previous part, Bart. Underneath the pool table of Dad's pub is the secret office of a secret anti-crime organisation, into which Bart is enlisted. The biggest villain in this installment is not Burns, as one might expect, but Homer himself, who takes to the dark side and parodies James Bond adversary Ernst Stavro Blofeld. This installment, the last of the story trilogy, isn't as good as the previous ones, but it's still enough fun to surpass the first story. For me, the rating is 70%.
The Halloween episode of The Simpsons brought a lot of expectations. Also, it's a celebration of the 600th I was expecting an extraordinary episode to be the best of the current series, unfortunately it isn't, nor will it be. It's also not exceptional in the context of previous haunted episodes and didn't entertain me as much as some of the earlier haunted episodes. When averaging the ratings of the individual episodes, the total for the episode comes out to be 70%, but unfortunately by this being the Halloween episode and also the 600th, I have to lower the rating, so the overall resume is only 60%.
