tear-jerking performances by Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård, excruciating suspense and use of hi-tech gadgets. The thriller Trapped delivers not only a powerful story, but also a sophisticated technical treatment that evokes feelings of extreme anxiety and hopelessness. A luxury SUV plays a key role in this. Petr Jákl reveals that three special cars had to be made for the filming, which cost over twenty million crowns to develop and produce.

The arrival of Bill Skarsgård and the Czech producer at the film's European premiere, which will take place on Wednesday 26 March at Prague's Slavic House, will be no less stylish. A fleet of five iconic Defenders will bring them to the red carpet.

Technical challenges in car production

"With any film, there are plenty of unexpected situations that have to be dealt with. For the thriller In the Trap, we had to make three different cars so that we could film in them comfortably," says Petr Jákl, who was at the birth of this ambitious project. The investment in the cars exceeded 20 million crowns.

Each of the three SUVs was designed and tailored to the specific needs of each scene:

  • First car: It had no doors or roof and was designed for close-ups in the studio. The absence of these parts allowed the crew to capture the actors from different angles, which added to the intensity of the shots.
  • Second Car: It was used for exterior filming and for realistic depictions in motion. It looked authentic and handled standard driving.
  • Third Car: It was created for action scenes and crashes. Its design had to withstand extreme physical loads and challenging conditions.

"The car was inspired by Land Rover's Defender," the Czech producer specifies. The final design was also influenced by the dark aesthetic of the Batmobile from the Matt Reeves movie.

Exceptional engineering

The result is a rugged car that not only stands up to a plot full of dramatic twists and turns, but also enhances the harrowing moments Eddie experiences. Making these unique SUVs was one of the biggest technical challenges of the entire shoot.

Some shots were so demanding that every second had to be meticulously planned. The cars had hidden camera mounts and special stabilization mechanisms that allowed the scenes to be shot exactly as the director needed. This attention to detail makes the thriller In the Trap not only a psychological battle between two strong personalities, but also a display of cinematic skill at the highest level.

Premiere in Prague

The European premiere of the film will take place on March 26th in Prague, with the personal presence of Bill Skarsgård and producer Petr Jakl. The film will be available in Czech cinemas from 3. April.
