Vasek Oboda is a unique man with deep roots in family heritage and love for nature and freedom. He comes from Frýdek-Místek, where he grew up surrounded by local traditions and values that shaped him. His entire family is strongly connected to the region, which Vasek describes as patriotism to his native land.
His philosophy of life revolves around a free approach to life and creative thinking. "I think I'm very free-thinking," says Vasek, who has chosen a place where he can be himself and do things on his own terms. "I can be outdoors, in nature, by an open fire - that's my environment," he adds.
Passion for nature and simplicity
Vasek's "heart place" is Malenovice, where his love of cooking in nature first came to life. His passion for cooking developed naturally - it started when he first prepared a meal for his friends, which they liked very much. "The good feeling that comes over you when you make something that people like is unforgettable," he recalls.
Vashko's cooking is not about finesse and precision, but about raw, natural power. He loves the open fire and the way one has to manage food preparation in nature, without being able to control the intensity of the flame. "It's not like a stove where you can add or subtract. You have to learn to work with it," he explains.
Connecting with family history
Vashko's family has Jewish roots, which also influenced his identity. His grandmother was Jewish and father also carries that lineage. "It's kind of in our family," says Vasek, citing the family traditions that shaped him.
He also values his family line of freethinkers, anarchists and punks. "We're kind of cowboys and Indians at the same time," he describes his ancestors with a smile and pride. This spirit of freedom and independence is reflected in his personality and lifestyle.
The power of physical and mental fitness
In addition to cooking, physical health is also important to Vashko. He has recently started exercising more, which he sees as part of his healthier lifestyle. "Being a chef is physically and mentally demanding, so it's good to be fit," he says, knowing that the cooking profession requires stamina and strength.
Vasek Oboda is a man of many passions - from his freewheeling approach to life to deep family roots and love of nature and raw cooking. His story is an example of how to combine tradition with modern living, while staying true to your own rules.
