It's been two years since the third season of Westworld aired. Dolores, „the computer brain of humanity“… people… computers have been destroyed. And after seven series years, we return to a future world of technology where humans won this time instead of the Terminators of the apocalypse.
As in every season, the main story is the fate of Dolores. This time, though, it's a new character, played once again by Evan Rachel Wood. She's no longer the blonde Dolores, but it's Christina, who lives her life as a reclusive writer, dividing her time only between work and life with her roommate.
As every year, William is back again, with a story that certainly won't be without bloodshed, but for now he's just bought (for free) an old waterworks with a computer background. It's just a question of whether he's a "clone" or a still-living Man in Black.
Also back in the story are the pairing of Maeve and Caleb, who spend the story's seven years trying to live their lives perfectly normally.
The first episode is really surprising in that we're introduced to characters (new and old). How life has changed them and how they react to their new threat. The first fifty minutes are really quiet and mysterious. We learn nothing in them. It's just that once again the wheels of fate have begun to turn for the main characters to once again throw themselves into the thick of things, causing the apocalypse, either surviving or being silenced forever.
We expect more returns in future episodes, of course, with Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and, of course, Jeffrey Wright returning. And we can also count the return of James Marsden, who is currently playing a mysterious character that we will definitely get to know better in the next episodes.
