Westworld – Dissonance Theory (S01E04) – 80 %

So we're two-fifths of the way through Westworld. The story goes on piece by piece. We're gradually getting to the bottom of the problem. The all-important robots are still alive, they are not shut down, and a mysterious plot is brewing behind the dark walls of the complex, involving not only the Wild West park creators, but also some chosen robots who are allowed to transcend their programming.

The fourth episode is a filler episode, with life at Westworld gradually coming to a dark end bit by bit. Dolores is truly the chosen one, allowed to go beyond her programming. The other, who gradually discovers that the world around her is not what it seems, having dark nightmares brought on by previous deaths, is Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton). She's been away from her theme park a few times, so she has her own dark desires to deal with.

We also gradually get to see what the mysterious "Man in Black" is after, we learn who he is and why he's trying to destroy half the robot park, what he's after and who he's after.

And how is that even possible? Behind the robots' outbursts and all manner of dark dreams of worthy characters is the park's founder, who's trying to get a little bit at a time so that it doesn't remain a mystery how his long-ago co-creator, the mysterious Arnold, died in the park. So he sets up mysterious story lines that no one knows about. Gradually, both Dolores and the Man in Black, who is enjoying his holiday, go about solving the mysterious labyrinth.

Let's not forget the pair of partners, Bernard Lowe and Theresa Cullen, who keep their relationship from the public and are at each other's throats.

What made this episode interesting to me? We learned some new information to fit into the puzzle and in the last few episodes. A lot of important things happened, even though this was a bit of a filler episode where nothing major happened. No dead bodies, no surprises, more of a piece-by-piece progression in the story.

By the way, I was wondering who else has appeared in the cast of the show? I've only just discovered it, it's Prince Caspian -> Ben Barnes.
